Dr. Carroll would much rather prevent a cavity than treat one. Preventive pediatric dentistry is therefore a major part of our Redondo Beach practice.

Understanding your child’s risk

Prevention starts with understanding why an individual child is at risk. Previous cavities, tooth anatomy, diet, brushing, flossing, fluoride exposure, medications, orthodontic appliances, developmental factors, and sensory or behavioral challenges can all affect the plan.

1

Based on real needs

Dr. Carroll does not believe preventive treatment should be automatic simply because it exists. Recommendations are based on the child’s actual needs and risk factors.

2

When brushing is a challenge

For families struggling with brushing or flossing because of sensory sensitivities, attention difficulties, or developmental needs, the solution may require more creativity than simply telling a parent to ‘brush better.’ Those challenges are part of the individualized plan.
